Requirements

  • One year experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs.
  • Possession of a current certification in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Addiction Counseling Preparation, or Juvenile Corrections.
  • 45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training.
  • An Associate's degree in a field not closely related to Social Work/Human Services and six months of human services related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience communicating effectively with the public, service providers and clients in person, over the phone and in writing respecting cultural differences.
  • Experience gathering documents from multiple sources and organizing into a case.
  • Empathetic and Patient- able to provide trauma informed support to the youth and families working with Child Welfare.
  • Experience utilizing time management, organization and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Work across all child welfare program areas as a member of the service delivery team.
  • Provide administrative support to case carrying social service specialists.
  • Coordinate and perform duties such as documentation, data entry, transportation, visitation, and contacting service providers.
  • Support the engagement of children in need of placement.
  • Engage with families to improve the outcomes and timeliness of cases.
  • Contribute to risk and safety assessments and the associated decisions and plans.
  • Support the caseworker in tasks related to assessment and case planning activities.
