About The Position

The Cascade Culinary Institute (CCI) at Central Oregon Community College (COCC) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Instructional Assistant. This part-time, temporary hourly position is designed for individuals who are passionate about culinary arts and education. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities that may change each term, including holding Open Lab hours for students, assisting with the CCI Bakery Kiosk, Elevation Restaurant, and Food Truck operations, and supporting the CCI Administrative Office functions. The Instructional Assistant will also have the opportunity to assist faculty in the classroom under their direction and help in the purchasing room. In this role, the Instructional Assistant will monitor Open Lab hours, providing students with the opportunity to practice their cooking and baking skills outside of class. This includes offering support on culinary techniques, food preparation, and ensuring compliance with kitchen sanitation and safety protocols. The assistant will also facilitate customer service at CCI's public-facing businesses, ensuring positive guest relations and assisting students in understanding classroom equipment. Additionally, the position involves administrative tasks such as event setup, food preparation, and accounting functions. The Instructional Assistant will aid in classroom technology and demonstrations, assist with course materials, and help maintain a clean and organized learning environment. The role may also require assisting in the purchasing room, ensuring that food ingredients are properly organized and stored.
