About The Position

King County Superior Court is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Court Appointed Specialist Advocate (CASA) Attorney in Family Treatment Court. This role is critical in representing Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) during Family Treatment Court hearings, trials, and depositions. The court is recognized nationally for its innovative approach and serves the 12th most populous county in the United States. The mission of the court is to ensure justice through accessible and effective forums for the fair, understandable, and timely resolution of legal matters. As a CASA Attorney, you will independently represent CASAs at various legal proceedings, including Superior Court hearings, trials, depositions, and related motions. You will also provide legal training, consultation, and representation for volunteer CASAs, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle their responsibilities. This position requires a strong understanding of dependency law, family law, and therapeutic courts, as well as the ability to provide case-specific legal advice to program staff. The work schedule for this part-time position is based on a 21-hour work week, with hearings currently scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime-eligible. The CASA Attorney will be based at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, WA, but will also need to travel to the Patricia Clark Children and Family Justice Center and the King County Courthouse in Seattle. Candidates must submit a resume and cover letter detailing their qualifications, as incomplete applications may be rejected. The selection process will involve screening application materials and inviting the most competitive candidates for interviews.
