About The Position

As a Carrier Sales Representative, you will develop relationships with carriers
to source, negotiate and secure the capacity to move available freight for
Forward Air and our customers in a timely and cost-effective manner. A Carrier
Sales Representative manages all activities related to the procurement of
carriers, from prospecting new carriers to utilizing capacity with partner
carriers and working to understand how Forward Air can help our carrier partners
grow. This is a fast paced, high-energy role where you can make an immediate
impact and have tremendous growth opportunity.

• Willing to proactively reach out to carriers on the phone; both cold calls and relationship calls are vital to the success of a Carrier Sales Representative
• Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments
• Comfortable taking calculated risks and learning quickly from your success and short falls. You’ll be encouraged to make decisions and grow from those experiences.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Transportation industry knowledge and experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Cultivate strong core carrier relationships, learning our carriers' preferred lanes and operations
• Prospecting new carriers through individual research and carrier lead lists
• Making outbound calls to carriers to gather available capacity and book loads with carriers
• Negotiate transactional rates for carriers based on the market, and work with carriers on long term rates when and where appropriate
• Maintain continuous communication with carriers and customer account managers to ensure outstanding customer service for our carriers and customers
• Other duties as assigned
