About The Position

The Carrier Sales Representative at Forward Air is responsible for developing and managing relationships with carriers to secure freight capacity efficiently and cost-effectively. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, or a related field preferred.
• Highly motivated problem-solver with a commitment to meeting the needs of carriers and customers.
• Ability to build strategic relationships with carriers and drive automation.
• Collaborative work style with Commercial and Operations Teams to manage customer accounts.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
• Proactive in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supporting departments.
• Comfortable taking calculated risks and learning from experiences.
• Solutions-oriented team player who engages by asking questions and proposing solutions.
• Willingness to engage with carriers through cold calls and relationship-building calls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suites: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Transportation industry knowledge and experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate strong core carrier relationships, learning carriers' preferred lanes and operations.
• Prospect new carriers through individual research and carrier lead lists.
• Make outbound calls to carriers to gather available capacity and book loads.
• Negotiate transactional rates for carriers based on the market and work on long-term rates when appropriate.
• Maintain continuous communication with carriers and customer account managers to ensure outstanding service.
