About The Position

Cooler Logistics is a leading 3PL located in Chicago, IL specializing in adding value to customers within the food and beverage industry through multi-modal solutions. Based out of our corporate office in Chicago IL, The Carrier Sales Manager is responsible for sourcing and procuring carrier services for existing and future business. Using on-the-spot sales and negotiation skills the carrier sales manager will focus on growing long-term relationships and the financial goals of the organization. This role excels at problem solving, communication, and teamwork. Working under the SVP of Procurement the Carrier Sales Manager will manage their freight portfolio from pick up to delivery, providing and negotiating freight and accessorial rates, building carrier relationships, leveraging knowledge of the business and industry to influence and impact decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • Solid communication and sales skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and build strong relationships with carriers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable in a start-up environment that demands a strong internal drive and collaborative thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in office Monday-Friday 7-4pm.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and negotiate freight rates to motor carriers and the internal sales team as needed to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Coordinate available customer freight with available motor carrier equipment.
  • Consistently provide service and support to motor carriers in an effort to build the business relationship.
  • Provide collaboration with the Commercial team to streamline processes.
  • Manage performance expectations through carrier account metrics.
  • Communicate with motor carriers to provide tracking updates to commercial team on shipments and help to resolve issues.
  • Verify all freight charges, confirm receipt of Bill of Lading, and resolve all payables discrepancy prior to final payment to motor carrier.
  • Identify lanes and/or carriers to source capacity and add to your network on an ongoing basis.
  • Accountable to sales, service, and volume goals.
  • Foster a team culture that is committed to continuous improvement and quality service.
