About The Position

Housing & Food Services (HFS) has an outstanding opportunity for a Carpet Cleaner to join their team. Housing & Food Services supports over 10,000 student residents and operates 40+ dining locations on campus. With a team of over 1,200 staff and students, HFS is dedicated to enhancing student life through teamwork and excellent service. Description of Duties Use equipment including but not limited to the following: truck mounted unit, scrub wand, rotary carpet extractor, hard surface rotary tool, upright vacuum, and bonnet machine. Maintain log and submit reports on labor and material costs based on square footage cleaned. Schedule; obtain keys, and clean apartments, residence hall rooms and public areas in units, which are both vacant and occupied. Participate in periodic training in use of chemicals and supplies, and in carpet and upholstery fabric cleaning. Maintain inventory of equipment and products for purchase and for scheduling maintenance. Perform minor mechanical maintenance on carpet cleaning equipment. Work in locations within the Department as well as other University facilities without direct supervision. Establish and maintain good public relations with students and staff. Clean upholstery using portable cleaning equipment. Perform custodial duties as assigned. Drive University vehicles to deliver items and commute to various HFS locations in or around campus Perform occasional pressure washing Perform related duties as required

Requirements

  • Six months’ custodial experience.
  • A valid Washington State Driver’s License may be required.
  • Physical ability to do required work.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
