About The Position

The Carpentry Technician at Cirque du Soleil is responsible for running multiple show tracks efficiently and safely, adhering to the company's standards and policies. This full-time position involves daily maintenance, inspections, and training in alignment with the artistic schedule. The technician will collaborate with various departments to meet the daily operational needs and contribute to a safe and positive working environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of previous experience as a professional Stage Carpenter on large-scale productions.
  • Experience as a run crew technician and running show cue tracks.
  • Advanced power and hand tool skills.
  • Standard theatrical construction technique experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of basic mechanics, electricity, and electronics.
  • Previous experience in finish carpentry or scenic painting.
  • Welding certification.
  • Experience working with metal, woodworking, rigging, welding, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Formal fall protection and overall safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Run cue tracks to position scenic elements and related equipment for performances, artist training, and maintenance.
  • Maintain stage and backstage areas.
  • Inspect and repair stage equipment.
  • Update maintenance and inspection records as directed.
  • Maintain all carpentry documentation related to equipment and systems.
  • Assist with inventory and communicate equipment needs to the Lead.
  • Participate in special projects, including the construction and installation of new show elements.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule for special projects.
  • Cooperate with other departments to ensure safe training, rehearsal, and show environments.
  • Develop thorough knowledge of carpentry department equipment to operate safely.
  • Adhere to OSHA regulations and participate in required health and safety training.
  • Contribute to a safe and positive working environment by following Cirque du Soleil standards and policies.
  • Assist other departments for cross-departmental support.
  • Complete other job-related duties as assigned.
