About The Position

This position provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment for students in the Carpentry shop.

Requirements

  • High School graduate
  • experience in Carpentry required, knowledge and experience with hand and power tool safety
  • Demonstrates knowledge and use of materials and resources in accordance with the adopted curriculum and consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided
  • Demonstrates effective classroom management skills and provides for sound and effective techniques of instruction.

  • Culturally Proficient leadership skills including visioning, active listening, coaching, facilitation, and use of data for decision making.

  • Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
  • Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating environment.
  • Assists the teacher in planning and preparation of daily activities.
  • Aids instructional efforts of the teacher, and grades and marking of papers.
  • May lead classroom activities.
  • Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concerts
  • Supervision of students.
  • Prepares instructional materials and supplies for use.
  • Tutor students as directed.
  • Presents subject matter to students under the guidance of a teacher utilizing a variety of methods.
  • Assists students to set and maintain standards of appropriate behavior.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs of the students.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
  • Is available to meet with students for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with students concerning their educational and behavioral progress.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
