About The Position

The position involves organizing, instructing, and supervising students in classroom and other settings as assigned. The instructor will prepare course syllabi and learning outcomes in conjunction with departmental guidelines, participate in the selection of texts and teaching materials, and maintain the classroom, equipment, supplies, and learning environments. Responsibilities also include assessing competencies of students in an organized and documented manner, assisting in the development, evaluation, and revision of program curricula to ensure maximum student competency, and helping students attain industry certifications. The instructor will collect, maintain, and submit performance data for reporting purposes, maintain records on grades and attendance, assist in registering students for courses, and cater to the individual needs of students. Compliance with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northwest Shoals Community College is required. Additionally, the instructor must maintain currency of professional knowledge, skills, and required licensures through professional development and continuing education. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Five years of experience in the carpentry industry, required.
  • Knowledge of worksite safety, required.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, framing, and roofing, required.

Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $50.00 (19 hours or less per week with NO BENEFITS)
