About The Position

Tessera is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Carpenter to support facility maintenance and structural repair efforts at USAFA. This role involves inspecting, repairing, and constructing building components and finishes to ensure safety, durability, and compliance with local and federal standards. Work includes both interior and exterior projects across a variety of structures and environments. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of carpentry experience in commercial, industrial, or military settings
  • Proficiency in structural framing, finish carpentry, and use of carpentry tools
  • Ability to read blueprints and perform layout and measurements accurately
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, environmental standards, and material handling
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.

  • Completion of a formal carpentry apprenticeship or equivalent training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, and replace roof framing, decking, coverings, flashing, and gutters to ensure weather resistance and structural integrity
  • Construct, maintain, and repair concrete formwork, brick, block, and stone structures for walls, walkways, and platforms
  • Apply sealants, mortar, and waterproofing materials in compliance with environmental and safety standards
  • Perform patching and resurfacing of masonry and roofing systems as part of preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Safely operate ladders, scaffolding, and fall protection equipment during elevated work
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair buildings, structures, and associated property
  • Install, replace, and repair walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, stairs, handrails, doors, windows, and trim
  • Perform framing, cabinetry, and finish carpentry using hand and power tools
  • Maintain interior and exterior finishes including drywall, paneling, and veneers
  • Ensure all work resists environmental damage (e.g., mildew, termites, water absorption)
  • Assemble and secure furniture and fixtures as needed
  • Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and specifications
  • Maintain service and repair records; follow environmental protection protocols
  • Collaborate with other trades on integrated maintenance projects
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance and conduct across the installation
