What does Brice Construction & Design LLC do? Brice Construction & Design is a subsidiary of Calista Brice LLC, a lifecycle construction group currently comprised of 17 companies, offering construction services in every phase of the construction cycle. We plan, manage, equip, transport, build, and provide cleanup services. With a broader network, Calista Brice streamlines projects and reduces inefficiencies in the construction cycle. Brice Construction & Design is a Small Business Administration (SBA) certified Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) 8(a) entity. We offer heavy civil construction services that include roadways, bridges, utilities, and marine construction. What can you expect? As t he Carpenter, you are responsible for completing the skilled carpentry work according to project plans and supervisory instruction. Under general supervision, you will perform master-level work in the design, construction, repair and maintenance of structures and related physical facilities and perform related work as required. You are responsible for the full range of rough skilled carpentry work, using, or working from one or more blueprints, as-built, specifications, drawings, or instructions to design, build, retrofit, maintain, and construct various types of facilities and structures. You must inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements, and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations with the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four (4) years master-level experience working as a carpenter in heavy highway or structural operations, commercial, industrial, or military construction operations setting, including rough Carpentry.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.
  • Knowledge of civil underground, structural bridge elements, pile driving operations, concrete formwork systems, and structural steel erection.
  • All around knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in construction field.
  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
  • Experience with reading plans and understanding tasks at hand.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Work requires professional verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works well in group problem solving situations.
  • Ability to participate in group meetings, take direction from supervisor(s) and other crew members, high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to project schedule.
  • Ability to actively listen and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work productively under pressure and to pay attention to the details of a project or task.
  • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work with or without direct supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy preferred.
  • Ability to provide own basic carpentry/structural hand tools preferred.
  • Experience in federal government projects preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete skilled carpentry/structural work according to instructions, project specifications, and plans.
  • Act as lead worker to other classified staff and helpers/laborers in the area.
  • Clean, maintain, adjust, calibrate, and service small tools/equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence to contract requirements (including state and federal Code Requirements) and report back to the supervisor.
  • Assist in inspections, testing, and reviewing of specifications for general carpentry project specification requirements.
  • Maintain a neat workspace and organize tools, materials, and supplies throughout the day to maintain a professional working environment.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and participate in safety meetings.
  • Review daily task assignments and clarify any material needs with the supervisor.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
