A Custom Truck Carpenter at Reading Truck plays a key role in building and finishing custom truck bodies from the ground up. Under the direction of the Shop Supervisor, this role involves hands-on carpentry work such as framing, paneling, cabinetry, and finish work to meet customer specs and quality standards. You’ll use your carpentry background to fabricate, install, and finish wooden or composite interiors, shelving, partitions, ceilings, and trim in a production environment where craftsmanship and safety matter. The Nuts and Bolts Follow all company safety policies and comply with PPE requirements Build and install truck interiors: shelving, floors, panels, trim, ceiling tiles, cabinets, etc. Cut and fit Aluminum and Galvanized Steel metal components, or composite materials to precise specs using power and hand tools Read blueprints and layout instructions to perform accurate measurements and cuts Install hardware, brackets, fasteners, and hinges as needed for functionality Sand, finish, and seal surfaces to meet appearance and durability standards Identify and repair defects or damages in materials or structures Keep work area clean and organized Perform daily maintenance checks on tools and equipment Support team production goals and assist other departments when needed Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager
