About The Position

Position Summary Perform a variety of journey level, skilled carpentry, cabinetry and general construction duties supporting the construction, maintenance, repair and remodeling of City buildings and facilities and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED supplemented by a two (2) year technical or formal apprenticeship program in finish carpentry or cabinet making; and
  • Two (2) years of general carpentry experience.
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or ability to obtain by date of hire.
  • Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

  • Correctly used and apply a variety of carpentry and cabinet-making skills
  • Design, read and interpret plans and blueprints
  • Work with plastic laminates and different types of adhesive
  • Repair and/or replace damaged windows, drywall, tiles, roofing and related items
  • Estimate time materials and equipment required for jobs
  • Measure and cut materials precisely
  • Operate all woodworking and wood cutting machines effectively and safely
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
