About The Position

Amentum has a Journeyman Carpenter opening at our Springfield, VA client facility. Responsible for repairs, replacement, and modifications of wood/metal or other materials utilized in framework, rafters, trusses, interior and exterior trim, staircases and other wood or wood substitute articles, building, structural additions, modifications, or repairs. Duties and Responsibilities: The Journeyman Carpenter performs carpentry duties necessary to maintain building structures and finishes in good repair including (but not limited to) repairing or installing new walls, partitions, floor tiles, ceiling tiles, and systems furniture. Included are drywall patching, painting, and adjusting and installing door hardware. Work involves most of the following: planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, building plans, as-built drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments, and making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. Coordinates with other trades to deconflict overlapping work. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved carpentry apprentice program with five (5) years working at the Journey level or an equivalent combination of education and experience which together total fifteen (15) years.
  • Strong working knowledge of all safety rules and procedures related to trade.
  • Ability to work from heights using scaffolds, ladders, boom, and scissor lifts.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of ten years of carpentry experience
  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
  • Ability to lift to 45lbs
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must possess and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
