About The Position

This is a regular, full-time, hourly, non-exempt, and benefit-eligible staff position at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma. The position typically works 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. The hourly pay rate is $16.16, which is equivalent to an annual salary of $33,612.80. The role involves various carpentry and maintenance tasks, including building and repairing wooden fixtures, conducting roof inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • General education or vocational training and 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Demonstrated skills common to the carpentry and masonry trades.
  • Ability to read and understand manuals and instructions in English.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of fire ratings and codes, BOCA and ADA requirements.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, drawings, and O & M Manuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to attend seminars to upgrade skills and obtain required training.
  • Knowledge of the use and disposal of chemicals common to the trade.

Responsibilities

  • Study specifications in blueprints or sketches to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using tools of the trade.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures.
  • Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, flooring, trim, or hardware.
  • Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
  • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
  • Conduct roof inspections from prescribed inspection forms and issue work orders for repairs.
  • Perform general carpentry work, including repairing, remodeling, and maintenance of existing buildings.
  • Install suspended ceilings, metal studs, track, drywall, ceramic and floor tiles.
  • Repair or replace windows, doors, hardware, closers, and devices.
  • Observe, communicate, comply with, and enforce OSHA provisions.
  • Perform duties related to special events and be available for facilities emergencies.
