Study specifications in blueprints or sketches to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using tools of the trade. Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment. Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures. Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, flooring, trim, or hardware. Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level. Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools. Conducts roof inspections from prescribed inspection forms and issues the work orders needed to complete the repairs. Performs general carpentry work, i.e. repairing, remodeling and maintenance of existing buildings and other structures. Provides repair and maintenance of existing building. Installs suspended ceilings. Installs metal studs, track and drywall. Measures and constructs cabinets. Installs ceramic and floor tiles. Repairs or replaces windows. Repairs or replaces doors, hardware, closer and devices. Performs roof inspections and roof maintenance. Observes, communicates, complies with, and enforces Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) provisions; analyzes supplies and materials used in job performance. Performs duties and complies with needs of special events, before, during, and after the special events are completed. Available to help with a facilities emergency. This may necessitate the use of a radio/cellular telephone for afterhours call backs. Further, a pre-arranged shift change may be implemented for predictable emergencies like inclement weather. Must have valid Oklahoma Driver License. Performs other related duties as necessary to support the UCO mission.
