About The Position

Join our Maintenance team, at the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel! Why the Maintenance Department? This position come with opportunity with room to expand and grow your career. As a Carpenter II (intermediate) you would work with the Maintenance team to complete work orders, projects, and other carpentry projects at Grand Canyon Railway.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the following: framing, general carpentry, basic woodwork in respect to general maintenance.
  • Must possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver's License and be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Vehicle Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of rooms and hotel layout on GCR property, including general knowledge of Xanterra/Grand Canyon Railway guest services with the ability to convey information to the guests.

Responsibilities

  • Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient Carpenter Shop work area by ensuring the shop is swept, equipment secure, and material properly secured stored during and after use.
  • Handle assigned work orders regarding carpentry and other tasks as needed, interior and exterior, in a timely, thorough and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain high levels of quality control throughout carpentry projects.
  • Fill out material requisition sheet and submit to tool room attendant.
  • Order supplies for projects, ensuring that material(s) are matched, and/or approved materials, especially regarding the historic structures.
  • Maintain a clean work site and cleanup of site to housekeeping standards.
  • Prioritize all WO assigned to you work orders for carpentry, based on guestroom occupancy, weather, and Railway Service requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies concerning tasks.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment in performance of tasks.
  • Adhere to Lock Out /Tag Procedures.
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment safely and in compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
