About The Position

The position involves overseeing construction activities, ensuring that the proper Individual Work Plans (IWP) are in place and understood by the crew. The role requires examining blueprints to determine the dimensions of structures and laying out floor plans and cabinetwork using various tools. Responsibilities include selecting materials and structural units, determining the sequence of activities for fabrication, assembly, and erection of structures, and assigning tasks to workers. The position also involves inspecting subcontractor work to ensure compliance with specifications, installing doors, building stairs, and laying hardwood floors. Additional duties include handling prefabricated materials, performing concrete and rough carpentry tasks, and leading team members effectively.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper IWP is in place and understood by their crew
• Examine blueprints to determine dimensions of structure
• Lay out floor-plan and cabinetwork using tape, framing square and calipers
• Select materials and structural units, such as lumber, prefabricated doors, cabinets of wood or plastic, paneling, and inspect them to ensure conformance with provisions of building code and local ordinance
• Determine sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly and erection of structure
• Assign workers to tasks such as cutting material to size, building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring
• Inspect work performed by subcontractors including ductwork, wiring and pipe installations, to ensure conformance with specifications
• Install doors, build stairs and lay hardwood floors
• Shooting grades and elevations
• Unload, handle, stockpile and erect all pre-fabricated materials
• Perform concrete and rough carpentry tasks including hand set walls, footings, set gang wall forms, structural concrete decks, slab on metal deck and grade, concrete columns, and drywall
• Finish carpentry tasks including setting door frames, hanging doors, installing hardware, and installing various fixtures and systems
• Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance
• Build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Perform all other duties as assigned
