About The Position

The Carpenter Diver position at Electric Boat in Groton, CT is a full-time role that involves being part of a dive team utilizing both scuba and surface supplied diving techniques. Successful candidates will engage in underwater ships husbandry specific to the submarine industry, performing a variety of tasks under all weather conditions. Responsibilities include construction, waterborne maintenance, and repair work throughout the shipyard. Divers will use a range of hydraulic, pneumatic, and handheld tools, and when not diving, they will perform regular maintenance on their diving equipment and undertake carpenter work as needed. The role may require traveling to various sites depending on job tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent or 2+ years technical experience.
• Minimum skill designation is a tender/diver.
• Surface supplied diving certificate from ADCI accredited school or military equivalent.
• Ability to qualify and maintain radiation worker qualifications.
• Obtain a secret clearance.
• Availability to work all shifts.
• Pass an initial medical examination by a physician qualified to perform commercial diver medical exam.

Nice To Haves

• Current dive log book.
• Familiarity with carpentry tools.
