Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in commercial construction preferred.
  • OSHA 10 preferred.
  • Operator's certificate preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task.
  • Task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require assisting other tradespeople including laborers.
  • Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, metal and wallboard using hand tools and power tools.
  • Work with and install doors, hardware, trim, cabinetry, ceiling materials and millwork.
  • Build rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports and temporary frame shelters according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
  • Examine specifications to determine dimensions of structures and measure boards, timbers or plywood using various tools.
  • Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes, brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, and build framework to strengthen, protect or disguise buildings that are undergoing construction.
  • Erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways.
  • Install rough frames and brace them with boards nailed to framework, install subflooring in building, or weld parts to steel structural members.
  • Load, unload, and move materials from within or near the construction site from pallets, skids, trucks, or other locations.
  • Drive equipment as needed.
  • Perform general partition layout.
  • Conduct partition framing and sheet rock installation.
  • Perform rough carpentry work including in-wall blocking.
  • Conduct finish carpentry including installation of doors, frames, hardware and trim.
  • Provide temporary protection including barricades, visqueen, floor protection, etc.
  • Perform general clean-up including vacuuming, sweeping and rubbish removal.
  • Lift, squat, and pull up to 100 lbs. with frequency throughout the day.
  • Conduct selective demolition of non-load bearing walls, ceilings and flooring material and clean up of all demolition debris.
  • Receive and handle any miscellaneous material deliveries.
  • Install and maintain safety handrails, covered openings, etc.
  • Supervise subcontractors and shift work if directed by Pepper's Project Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
