Support the 153d Airlift Wing's facilities, including 17 main habitable buildings totaling 400,000 square feet of heated space. The Carpenter performs complex repair and maintenance. They do not have supervisory or budgetary responsibilities. The Carpenter is essential to our maintenance program by completing scheduled, deferred, and routine maintenance as well as requested office and building modifications and construction projects. Position provides a safe, comfortable and efficient working environment. While also being compliant with government and state rules, such as building codes and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

  • Provides the interior and exterior structural maintenance, repair, and renovation of all base facilities, adhering to code compliance.
  • Manufacture/create counters, shelves, chair rails, picture frames, cove base/trim or any custom wood-related product needed.
  • Installs drop/finished ceiling, wainscot, wood paneling.
  • Integrates doors and windows into interior spaces and installs carpet, wood flooring, finished concrete, VCT tile, ceramic tile, rubber flooring products, walk-off mats, etc.
  • Constructs display frames, hangs pictures, bulletin boards, status boards, screens and other signage as requested.
  • Inspects and repairs roofing systems such as built-up, single ply EPDM, standing seam metal, shingle and foam types.
  • Repairs gutters and downspouts; repairs wood and metal fabric fences.
  • Repairs concrete sidewalks and building ramps by replacing, routing and sealing expansion joints, and spall repair.
  • Repairs and maintains brick, split-faced block, concrete masonry unit (CMU), and stucco exteriors.
  • Installs structural barriers to provide an enhanced Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection posture for facilities.
  • Monitors and performs quality inspection checks on contractors when work is beyond the material and equipment capabilities of this shop.
  • Required to review and input suggestions on construction designs and perform technical sufficiency reviews for structural aspects on major renovations and Military Construction Program (MILCON) projects.
  • Analyzes and comments on facility construction techniques, maintainability, and durability to ensure life cycle cost savings.
  • Conducts periodic construction inspection and advises the Base Civil Engineer and upper management on field change orders, modifications, and corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned, snow removal, parking lot line painting, base cleanup etc.
  • Computer knowledge, iEMS, Builder, Word, Excel, time sheets, and ordering parts.
  • Associate's Degree.
  • 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Carpentry) OR 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Carpentry).
  • A valid Wyoming driver's license is required for this position.
  • This individual will also be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
