About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Carpenter 1 for the Facilities Maintenance Services (FMS) Department. This position is responsible for performing journeyman level carpentry maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, and fixtures. Additionally, the incumbent will assist the department welder and roofer as needed. Duties include (but are not limited to): Perform skilled carpentry work to maintain and repair buildings, structures, and fixtures; Maintain and repair doors, jambs, windows, ceiling, roofs, walls, stairs, flooring, and concrete; Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with established schedules and procedures; Assist with metal work and welding, roofing component repair and replacements, and assist other trades with carpentry work; Properly use and maintain tools and equipment while following safety regulations; Maintain general knowledge of State and local building codes and fire codes relevant to carpentry, roofing, and welding work; and Other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
  • A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
  • 10-hour Occupational Safety Health Administration Certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities
