About The Position

TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Carman in San Jose, CA to join our team.
The pay rate or range for this position $42.10 per hour.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
Performs inspection, testing and maintenance in accordance with 49CFR regulations.
Troubleshoots equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of equipment failures.
Repairs doors, windows, interior equipment, access panels, hand brakes, brake shoes, outside car body components, fire extinguishers, emergency tools and first aid kits.
Uses a variety of test equipment to diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot and repair components and circuits.
Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with assigned job.
Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Experience in troubleshooting, repair, replacement and rebuilding of mechanic equipment and systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge and skill in the use of electrical tools, equipment and the measurements necessary to meet established standards.
• Ability to train others in attaining higher skill levels in inspections and repairs.
• Demonstrated computer skills.
• Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of technical school or apprenticeship program preferred.
• Experience in the maintenance of railroad equipment preferred.
• Must successfully complete training and attain/retain certification applicable to assigned job.
