Hanley Place, Brookstone Townhomes, and Gray’s Landing, subsidiaries of Hornig Companies, are seeking a full-time, experienced Caretaker/Cleaner to support three apartment communities totaling 144 units. This position is best suited for someone with a professional background in detailed cleaning who can work independently across multiple buildings and maintain consistent, high standards. Prior hands-on cleaning experience in residential, hospitality, or multi-housing environments is required.

Requirements

  • At least 1–2 years of professional cleaning experience (housekeeping, residential cleaning, hotel, apartment turns, or similar)
  • Ability to consistently meet detail-oriented cleaning standards and daily deadlines
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds regularly.
  • Have the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Have the ability to stand, lift and bend for up to 8 hours (with breaks) in hot/cold and wet environments
  • Have the ability to push and pull throughout the course of a work day
  • Able to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with employees, residents and vendors
  • Have the ability to manage time, balance and meet deadlines
  • Have the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, including reading and following instructions on work orders and safety information on cleaning supplies
  • Able to review and enter information in several different computer programs and phone applications
  • Able to maintain regular on-site attendance

Responsibilities

  • Respond to work orders using an internet-based phone application
  • Communicate professionally and clearly with residents, staff, and management
  • Maintain overall property cleanliness and curb appeal
  • Identify, document, and report maintenance or safety concerns that cannot be resolved immediately
  • Maintain regular communication with the Property Manager (phone, text, and email required)
  • Assist with emergency maintenance triage and resident lockouts as needed
  • Cover other assigned properties when requested
  • Perform daily, detailed cleaning of all common areas across four apartment buildings, including entryways, hallways, stairwells, laundry rooms, and community rooms
  • Complete thorough apartment turn cleanings for vacant units, including kitchens, bathrooms, appliances, flooring, fixtures, and interior surfaces
  • Vacuum carpeted common areas at least twice per week
  • Clean interior windows within reach and maintain light fixtures and vents
  • Maintain laundry rooms by wiping machines, removing lint, and monitoring improper storage or misuse
  • Complete spring/fall deep-cleaning projects and additional seasonal cleaning tasks as assigned
  • Monitor exterior areas daily and perform trash and debris pickup as needed to maintain a clean and professional appearance
  • Keep sidewalks and building entrances clear and safe, including snow removal and ice control down to bare concrete
  • Perform snow removal and salting at sidewalks, entrances, mailboxes, and trash/recycling areas
  • Assist with seasonal exterior upkeep, including weeding, watering, and maintaining landscaped areas and flower pots
  • Report exterior maintenance or safety concerns to management as identified
