About The Position

An individual who, under Agency supervision, provides assistance with light house cleaning, meal preparation, companionship assistance with activities outside the home for agency consumers Organizational Relationship: Reports to the designated Supervisor Risk Of Occupational Exposure to Blood Borne Pathogens: A: high exposure

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completed agency training or have verified experience in the provision of home care tasks and successful competency testing.
  • Provide services in accordance with the policies and requirements of the agency and the service arrangements spelled out in the service plan.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Speaks, reads, and writes and is able to communicate effectively.
  • Is able to lift, turn and transfer Consumers weighting up to 150 pounds.
  • Is able to carry bundles upstairs weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to stoop and bend.
  • Must be able to travel to prospective Consumer’s place of residence.
  • Must be able to hear and effectively communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting any observed environmental concerns or changes in the consumer’s status that may impact the safety and security of the consumer to the agency supervisor or manager.
  • Completion of appropriate service notes regarding service provision of each visit, to include confirmation of services provided and the date and time in and out. Such confirmation shall also be according to agency policy.
  • Routine light house cleaning, meal preparation, dishwashing, and bed making. Homemakers may also assist in teaching these tasks to the consumer.
  • Assistance in completing activities outside the home, such as shopping or laundry.
  • Companionship, including but not limited to: social interaction, conversation, emotional reassurance, encouragement of reading, writing, and activities that stimulate the mind.
  • Maintain Consumer confidentiality per HIPAA and Agency policy guidelines.
  • Follow emergency procedures in the event of any medical or non-medical situations.
  • Always follow Consumer rights.
  • Report any incidents or Consumer changes immediately to the Supervisor.
