The Caregiver position involves providing direct support and assistance to clients in various aspects of their daily lives. This includes helping with self-care activities such as dressing, bathing, and toileting, as well as monitoring during meals and ensuring family-style dining. Caregivers are responsible for assisting clients with housekeeping duties, including clothing care, house cleaning, and yard work, and aiding in meal preparation and nutritional supplement administration. A key responsibility is the accurate administration of prescribed medication and the implementation of diet orders and adaptive equipment use. The role also requires implementing and following behavior programs, collecting data, and adhering to safety procedures. Caregivers will assist clients with active treatment plans, record data, and work towards service goals. They are expected to participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team, communicate client information to supervisory staff, and transport clients in company vehicles for community outings, school, and day program activities. Continuous professional development is required through attending scheduled staff development classes and successfully completing competency testing in areas such as MANDT, CPR, First Aid, Safe Van Driving, Promotion of Consumer Well Being, Cultural Competency, and Medication Administration. Caregivers must also complete all tasks assigned by managers.
