ME282 - Full-Time and Part-time Caregiver - Upper East Side, NY
About The Position
A mature couple on the Upper East Side of NYC is seeking a companion for the 80-year-old husband. They are looking for a full-time Caregiver and a part-time weekend Caregiver. The schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm. The candidate to hire must understand that the principal has dementia. The role starts immediately. You must have companion experience. The second position is a weekend role of Saturday and Sunday, 8 am-5 pm. Everyone in this household works together to get the job done. People cover different shifts and help when the other staff members are on vacation or take sick days.
Requirements
- Must have elderly care on your resume
- Someone who has confidence, attention to detail, and empathy
- Experience with this situation is necessary
- Comfortable in an environment where you must navigate difficult things whilst remaining pleasant and empathetic
Responsibilities
- Being kind, loving, gracious, a good conversationalist, and efficient
- Straightening up the home
- Making meals (nothing fancy), but cooking is required for this role.
- Being really attentive, such as getting water, helping him around, and on nice days, taking him to sit outside
- The principal is hard of hearing, so clear spoken English is required
- Light errands might be needed
- Making the bed
- Help fold laundry; help others in the household. Everyone pitches in and helps each other.
