Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Be knowledgeable and adhere to a resident's service plans.
- Maintains residents' dignity by providing privacy and confidentiality.
- Effectively engage and communicate with elderly individuals.
- Exhibit patience, tact, and willingness to handle challenging situations.
- Foster positivity and actively engage in daily problem-solving.
- Ability to accurately document activities of daily living.
- Compassionate bedside manner and empathy toward residents
- Must have Heimlich Maneuver training within the first 120 days.
- Understanding of and commitment to residents rights and dignity.
- First aid certification and Food handler's card within first 120 days of employment.
- Criminal background check is required for new hires.
- Mennonite Village is a drug-free workplace.
- In addition, information may be obtained through the Driver and Motor Vehicle Services Division (DMV), court records, and other states' data systems.
- Fingerprints may be required as part of the check.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with hygiene and general care of residents' skin, nails, hair, eyes, ears, mouth, and face
- Helping residents perform activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, bathing, toileting, and grooming
- Responding promptly to call lights
- Monitoring health status and documenting vital signs, fluid, and nutritional intake
- Supporting mobility and positioning, ensuring safety devices are used effectively
- Encouraging resident participation in activities
- Creating delicious meals
- Performing general housekeeping tasks
