About The Position

Blue Jay Springs senior living community is currently seeking Caregiver/Medication Aides to join their team. The role involves administering prescribed medications and treatments to residents who need assistance, in accordance with state regulatory stipulations and requirements for safe administration. This includes observing residents taking medication, noting effects, correctly documenting information in medication administration records, and communicating concerns to the Wellness Director, Wellness Coordinator, or designated personnel. The Medication Aide also supports residents with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, socialization, cognition, and physical health, while encouraging resident independence, supporting resident choice, and preserving resident dignity through professional conduct and interactions. Requirements

  • Successful completion of medication assistance training in compliance with the state’s regulatory requirements and facility requirements.
  • Maintains up-to-date medication certification requirements according to state regulations.
  • Compassionate and empathetic in personal interactions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-supervising, self-motivating.
  • Willing to collaborate and work as a team member.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple demands/tasks concurrently.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills.
  • Meets age requirements according to facility policy and state regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior direct care experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments to residents who need assistance in accordance with state regulatory stipulations and requirements for safe administration.
  • Observe the resident taking the medication, note effects including any unexpected or adverse effects.
  • Correctly document the required information in the residents’ medication administration records.
  • Communicate any concerns or observations with the Wellness Director, Wellness Coordinator or designated personnel.
  • Support residents with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, socialization, cognition, and physical health.
  • Encourage resident independence, support resident choice and preserve resident dignity through professional conduct and interactions.
