About The Position

Mainstay Supportive Housing and Home Care, Inc. is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to helping vulnerable individuals—low-income elders, people living with disabilities and mental health complexities, and those transitioning out of chronic homelessness—live with dignity, independence and stability in their communities. Since our founding in 1975, we’ve been deeply rooted in providing housing services to the most vulnerable and have expanded into providing permanent supportive housing, and person-centered home care in communities across Massachusetts. We are seeking reliable, compassionate Home Health Aides to join our dedicated in-home care team. This part-time weekend role focuses on providing one-on-one support to older adults living in their own homes across the Spencer and Sturbridge area. By assisting with everyday tasks and building meaningful connections, you will help clients age in place safely and with dignity—avoiding institutional care and maintaining their independence.

Requirements

  • Compassionate and caring attitude towards clients.
  • Respectful and encouraging approach to caregiving.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and active listening.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
  • Reliable transportation to travel across Spencer to Sturbridge.
  • Availability for a part-time weekend schedule (approximately 4-5 hours per day).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience or interest in caregiving, home care, elder services, or direct support roles.
  • Comfortable traveling between client homes in Spencer and Sturbridge, MA.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care and support for clients with light meal preparation.
  • Assist with personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Perform light housekeeping and laundry.
  • Provide medication reminders.
  • Offer companionship during daily visits.
  • Deliver one hour of individualized non-clinical care per client visit.
  • Support and encourage client participation in their care plans.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful home environment.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and families.
  • Document services accurately and in a timely manner.
