About The Position

TrinityRail Maintenance Services, Inc. is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Career Valve Technician at our Shell Rock, IA plant. As a member of the Valve Technician team, you’ll perform maintenance, assessment, repair, and testing on various types of industrial valves.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2-5 years industrial valve repair experience, or an equivalent number of years of education and experience
  • Experience with repairing various valves and actuators, whether pneumatic, hydraulic or electric
  • Mechanically inclined and able to use a variety of power tools, hand tools and cutting torches to perform required tasks
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights
  • Must be able to read and comprehend basic drawings and scope of work
  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure
  • Must possess basic math skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Must possess basic computer skills, including basic experience with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, assembly and testing of valves included but not limited to, safety valves, XS flow valves, heater coils, or bottom outlet valves
  • Responsible for repair and testing of various valves, including but not limited to ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, safety relief valves, etc.
  • Examine valves parts for defects, dents, or loose attachments, and mark malfunctioning areas of defective units. Disconnect and/or remove defective or unauthorized valves. Replace defective parts and reassemble units according to customer specifications
  • Test valves and gauges for leaks and accurate temperature and pressure settings, using precision testing equipment
  • Follow all schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and ASME National Board standards that apply to the job
  • Thoroughly complete all maintenance, calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs to include test results, material usage and repairs made
  • Travel to job sites when required and adhere to all site safety and performance requirements
  • May train others in the standards and processes of the role
