The specialist is responsible for counseling students on various aspects of career readiness, including job search skills, job placement, job retention, and the exit processes from the Job Corps program. The role involves identifying students who have exited the program but are not currently employed or enrolled in school, and facilitating their reconnection with appropriate placements or educational opportunities. In this position, the specialist conducts interviews with students entering the Career Transition Phase, providing them with re-orientation and focusing on effective job search techniques. They maintain a caseload of active student files, ensuring regular contact through phone correspondence and visits to classrooms and trade shops. The specialist is tasked with familiarizing students with career transition processes, employability skills, and available job offers, as well as coordinating mock interview sessions and job fairs. Additionally, the specialist is responsible for maintaining linkages with military services and external resources, managing job banks, and securing job leads.
