About The Position

The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) Education and Workforce Development department is seeking a passionate and dedicated Career Services Coordinator to join our team in support of the Advance and Earn program. Reporting to the Interim Manager of Health and Human Services, the Career Services Coordinator will build and maintain relationships with employers to ensure that participants find stability and success on the job, and work in collaboration with the Education and Workforce teams and the Career and Alumni Services Hub (CASH) to boost participant earnings over time. The Career Services Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing disconnected young adults, ages 17- 24, with access to internships and employment opportunities within labor market sectors that are expanding in New York City.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Career Development, Human Resources, Social Services, a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of high-level experience developing job opportunities for young adults
  • Experience establishing employer partnerships
  • Ability to network and establish relationships with funders, employers, hiring organizations, job training programs, and educational opportunity providers across New York City
  • Experience with recruitment/outreach, internships, and job placement
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, networking, negotiation (conflict management and resolution), and presentation skills
  • Ability to work some flexible hours (e.g., evenings and weekends)

Responsibilities

  • Partnerships & Development
  • Identify and secure at least 10-20+ external employment partnerships for internships to support the Education and Workforce ACCESS (Advancing College and Careers through Experience, Skills, and Support) programming, which includes the Advance and Earn’s Healthcare program, Works Progress Program, and SYEP participants
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers to identify internship, job and career opportunities to expand the Educational and Workforce’s employer network
  • Work alongside the Interim Manager for Health and Human Services and the Career and Alumni Services Hub (CASH) team (Engagement and Success Team) to assemble an Employer Advisory Council comprised of our most valued employment partners who will support equitable access to employment
  • Support the Development Department in the completion of grant proposals by attaining letters of support from employer and community partners when needed

  • Career Services
  • Support the placement of 50 GED students, 50 Healthcare, and 50 SYEP participants annually into sector-focused internships for up to 13 weeks and high-quality paid employment for the Advance and Earn program
  • Build and maintain a client-facing job board with current job opportunities
  • Coordinate and participate in job fairs, workshops, and networking events
  • Provide career counseling, job readiness training, and support to at-risk youth with multiple barriers to employment
  • Assist the Employment Specialist in guiding participants through the process of developing effective job search strategies, crafting compelling resumes, and preparing for interviews.
  • Track participant progress and employment outcomes, maintaining accurate records and data
  • Regularly engage with employers across various industries to explore job opportunities and career pathways, ensuring that Education and Workforce graduates have access to the most competitive opportunities
  • Collaborate with community groups and organizations to enhance workforce development efforts
  • Represent the Isaacs Center on panels, webinars, and forums
  • Re-place current participants and alumni who are unemployed, underemployed, or in search of higher wage/alternative employment
  • Mentor and coach participants and alumni, one-on-one or in small groups for job preparation and career advancement
  • Record student and employer interactions, internships, and job placements into Salesforce and DYCD connect
  • Other tasks as assigned Professional Development and Upskilling
  • Assist with facilitating or the procurement of facilitators of in-person workshops that cover various topics that support advancement and certification of participants
  • Support the scheduling of experiential learning opportunities that keep participants engaged in programming
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support for professional skill development and advance career growth
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • Data Entry
  • Maintain accurate and timely data entry in Salesforce and DYCD Connect for participants records, internship and job placements, and employer interactions
