About The Position

The Career Services & Apprenticeship Coordinator supports student career readiness and workforce development through a dual portfolio of responsibilities. In the area of Career Services and Experiential Learning (50%), the Coordinator teaches assigned career readiness seminar courses, provides individualized career coaching, and supports student success through events, workshops, and employer-hosted programs. The role also reviews and approves internship and project proposals for academic credit, while contributing to the collection of first-destination survey data to measure student outcomes. In the area of Grant-Funded Apprenticeship Coordination (50%), the Coordinator manages activities related to a 20-month Registered Apprenticeship Program grant. This includes program registration, documentation, compliance, and performance monitoring, as well as collaboration with faculty and industry partners to align technical instruction with on-the-job training. Serving as a primary point of contact for apprentices and employers, the Coordinator also conducts outreach, represents the University at workforce development events, and ensures accurate data and reporting. These responsibilities are grant-dependent and may be restructured upon the grant’s completion.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in higher education, business, leadership, human resources or related field or the equivalent work experience in career services, corporate recruitment and/or corporate/external relations preferred
  • Knowledge of career and professional development services, employment trends, and business and academic environments, especially as they relate to science and technology
  • Excellent writing, presentation, project management and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, and employers
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office computer systems, experience with computer-based integrated student databases and receptive to the use of new technology while also able to utilize web and social media platforms for recruitment; knowledge of LinkedIn, Handshake, customer relationship management (Slate) and a student information system (Jenzabar or Stellic

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned sections of career readiness seminar courses (100–400 level), supporting students’ professional skills, career planning, and experiential learning.
  • Provide individualized career coaching on resumes, job/internship searches, interviews, career services platforms, and professional skill development.
  • Plan, promote, and execute career-related events, workshops, and employer-hosted programs, ensuring smooth logistics and strong participation.
  • Review and approve student internship, applied practice, and project proposals, ensuring alignment with program goals and credit eligibility.
  • Assist with collection of first destination survey data.
  • Oversee Registered Apprenticeship Program activities supported through a 20-month grant, including registration, documentation, compliance, and performance monitoring; responsibilities are subject to change upon completion of the grant period.
  • Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to align technical instruction with on-the-job training, serving as a primary contact for apprentices and employers throughout the 20-month grant period; duties may be restructured after the grant concludes.
  • Conduct outreach and represent the University at workforce development meetings and events to promote apprenticeship initiatives during the 20-month grant; scope of responsibilities may change following the grant’s completion.
