About The Position

The Career Orientation and Development (C.O.D.) program at American Woodmark is designed for salaried new hires, providing them with a comprehensive training experience that facilitates a smooth transition from student to employee. Participants will gain exposure to various aspects of the organization, including hands-on experience in the field, and will learn about the business processes involved in cabinet manufacturing and installation. The program includes orientation at the corporate office, field training, and opportunities to shadow current employees.

Requirements

  • A background of recognized achievements through organized sports and/or leadership and extracurricular activities.
  • Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.
  • Energy and focus to be goals and results oriented.
  • Drive, determination, and discipline of a self-starter.
  • Possess a valid and current driver's license within the United States and maintain a satisfactory driving history.
  • Undergraduate degree with a class rank above 20% and/or a GPA of 3.0 from an accredited college/university.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and actively participate in the training curriculum and complete assigned work including tours, presentations, and deliverables.
  • Document processes, create presentations, and deliver presentations in a team environment within strict deadlines.
  • Learn about different functional areas within American Woodmark, such as builder centers, home centers, production plants, and support functions.
  • Document and create a training binder to include all work assigned during the program.
  • Develop relationships with various departments and managers.
  • Communicate with Coach/HR professionals weekly to determine first role and job shadowing interests.
  • Acquire necessary technological and professional skills needed for success at American Woodmark.
  • Perform other tasks individually or with a team as directed by key managers throughout the training process.
  • Maintain and promote a team spirit among all personnel and team members.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
