About The Position

This position offers an exciting opportunity to assist adults with mental health diagnoses in learning about work and gaining competitive employment throughout Suffolk County. It is a full-time role that requires flexibility in scheduling and excellent communication skills. The role involves significant outreach and networking to increase awareness of the program and advocate for member participation in available services.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree; Bachelor's Degree highly preferred.
  • At least 6 months to 1 year of relevant work experience required, particularly with individuals with mental health diagnoses.
  • Valid driver's license is required, and must meet all criteria to be a valid driver for the agency.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Must complete all required trainings.
  • Ability to adhere to a flexible work schedule that may include early hours, evening hours, and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individuals with pre-vocational training, situational assessments, and referrals for active job development and placement.
  • Deliver curriculum and relevant services in individual and group settings through daily job clubs to teach vocationally relevant soft skills.
  • Address areas such as resume building, interviewing skills, transportation, and coping skills in training sessions.
  • Spend 70% or more of scheduled work hours in the community, meeting individuals in various community settings, including their homes.
  • Assist individuals in orienting to new environments such as job sites, assessment sites, and job fairs.
  • Utilize outreach services to foster partnerships with other community organizations serving the targeted community.
  • Become familiar with and assist individuals with Job Zone, ONET, Ticket to Work, and ACCES-VR.
  • Ensure individuals are knowledgeable about public transportation options and assist them in securing SCAT.
  • Provide travel training on a case-by-case basis as needed.
  • Ensure documentation meets quality and compliance thresholds and complete required documentation within mandated time frames.
  • Effectively communicate and support the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Communicate respectfully with all individuals, including those supported, supervisors, team members, and community members.
  • Prevent, recognize, and report abuse toward the individuals supported.
  • Adhere to the organization's Code of Ethics and maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
