About The Position

The Career Navigator – Youth GED Program is responsible for providing individualized support to participants enrolled in Goodwill’s youth education and training programs. This role includes intake, barrier reduction, career planning, wraparound services, and post-placement follow-up. The Career Navigator will work closely with instructors, employers, Goodwill staff, and community partners to ensure participants successfully complete training and transition into employment or further education. This is not a remote position

Requirements

  • Associates Degree and minimum 2 years of experience in customer service, case management, workforce development, or social services.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, time management, project management, initiative, and accountability.
  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, decision-making and communications skills
  • Superior coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build understanding and consensus
  • Ability to read and interpret hard data and metrics.
  • Ability to write creatively and articulately with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as:  addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra when working on spreadsheets.
  • Ability to create and manage departmental budget.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Career Navigator – Youth GED Program.
  • Washington State Driver’s License required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with low-income communities, individuals with various learning abilities, working with businesses, and recruiting or staff training. Preferred.
  • Professional presentation skills and bi-lingual, strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management, career planning, and retention support to enrolled program participants, including the development of Individualized Employment Plans (IEPs), and other support as needed to maintain participant motivation and engagement.
  • Complete intake activities to ascertain needs; determine eligibility, suitability, and orientation; and develop service strategies.
  • Identify and address barriers such as transportation, childcare, housing, legal issues, and mental health.
  • Coordinate access to supportive services including stipends, work attire, tools, and testing fees.
  • Track participant progress, retention, and employment outcomes using Caseworthy and other relevant data systems.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and workshops as required and/or to enhance professional development.
  • Assist participants with career mapping, resume development, job applications, and interview preparation, both individually and in a workshop/class setting.
  • Support participants in accessing additional training, certifications, or post-secondary education.
  • Understand and communicate/educate participants regarding local job openings, labor market information, hiring trends, job search best practices, etc.
  • Liaise with external service providers and workforce partners.
  • Advocate for participant needs and promote inclusive, trauma-informed practices.
  • Support outreach and recruitment efforts in collaboration with the Goodwill and Industry Skills partnerships.
  • Support the development of partner and business relationships.
  • Market programs and opportunities to customers and community partners.
  • Effectively build partnerships, collaborate, and serve as a program liaison with internal partners, including Goodwill department representatives from Retail, Workforce Development Services, and Human Resources.
