About The Position

The Career Navigator plays a crucial role in assisting students in their career exploration and development. This position involves coordinating education development plans, facilitating work-based training, and providing occupational awareness activities to help students identify their career paths post-graduation. The Career Navigator will also serve as a mentor, guiding participants through individualized goal setting and ensuring they receive the necessary support services for success.

Requirements

• Experience in career counseling or education development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and educational staff.
• Knowledge of vocational training and support services.
• Experience in program documentation and reporting.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Michigan Works! programs and services.
• Experience working in a school environment.
• Background in mentoring or coaching.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate education development plans for students.
• Facilitate career exploration activities and work-based training.
• Develop and revise vocational plans of service as needed.
• Monitor services provided to participants.
• Identify appropriate support services for participants.
• Recruit participants for Michigan Works programs.
• Complete intake requirements for new participants.
• Provide learning lab instruction to participants.
• Coordinate community-based vocational experiences.
• Document individualized program plans and outcomes for each participant.
• Act as a mentor and role model for participants.
• Facilitate individualized goal setting for participants.
• Coordinate supports to ensure participant success in the program.
• Serve as a liaison between participants, schools, parents or guardians, and Michigan Works!.
