The Career Navigator position is designed to support high school students in their career exploration and educational development. This role involves coordinating various activities aimed at helping students identify their career paths and achieve their educational goals. The Career Navigator will utilize the Jobs for Michigan's Graduates (JMG) model to mentor students and facilitate their success in the program.

  • Coordinate education development plans for high school students.
  • Facilitate career exploration activities and work-based training.
  • Assist students in reaching their fullest potential using the JMG model.
  • Input data into Jagforce and manage participant recruitment.
  • Complete intake requirements for program participants.
  • Coordinate community-based vocational experiences for students.
  • Document individualized educational plans and outcomes for each participant.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for participants.
  • Facilitate individualized goal setting for students.
  • Identify and coordinate supports to ensure participant success.
  • Act as a liaison between participants, schools, parents or guardians, and Michigan Works!.
  • High school diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Education or related field, or a USDOL Registered Workforce Development Specialist.
  • One year of experience in teaching, tutoring, counseling, or paraprofessional roles within a school system.
  • Experience assisting diverse economic populations.
  • Proficient computer skills, including data entry and file management.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
