The Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities (KCCTO) team, part of the College of Health and Human Sciences at Kansas State University, is seeking a dedicated Career Navigator to enhance their statewide professional development program focused on childcare and education for individuals and programs serving children from birth to 13 years. This role is pivotal in recruiting and retaining professionals in the early childhood field, as well as supporting career advancement for those currently serving young children and their families. The Career Navigator will need to possess a deep understanding of the professional preparation and development opportunities available to both prospective and current members of the early childhood workforce, enabling them to provide tailored career advising and support. In this position, the Career Navigator will deliver both virtual and in-person support for career planning and advancement within the early childhood sector. This will be achieved through various methods, including coaching, consultation, mentoring, and facilitating peer-to-peer learning opportunities. The role involves developing written training plans and Individualized Professional Development Plans (IPDP) to guide individuals in their career paths. The Career Navigator will also serve as a point-of-contact for resources and training in specialized areas such as higher education, CDA support, director support, and accreditation, providing expertise and technical assistance to staff, early childhood care and education professionals, and other organizations. Additionally, the position may involve conducting training sessions on early childhood career pathways and opportunities, primarily through online platforms like Canvas. Joining the KCCTO team means becoming part of a state-wide initiative dedicated to delivering quality, accessible professional development opportunities to family childcare providers, childcare center staff, and other early education professionals across Kansas. The mission of KCCTO is to ensure high-quality early education and care through professional development and support for those who work with and on behalf of young children. As a contracted agency by the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF), KCCTO plays a crucial role in the Infant-Toddler Specialist Network and the Early Childhood Workforce Professional Development Program. The College of Health and Human Sciences, which houses KCCTO, is committed to promoting research, scholarship, and creative activity with a focus on health and human behavior, serving over 2,300 undergraduate and 400 graduate students with a faculty of more than 115 full-time members.
