About The Position

The Career Navigator position at Goodwill Easter Seals focuses on preparing participants for employment and self-sufficiency through job readiness, life skills, and basic skills instruction. The role involves providing employment services and support to Workforce Development Programs, particularly for students referred by the Escambia County School District. This position is grant-funded and requires ongoing performance to maintain funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in education or human service related field preferred.
  • Two years of closely related experience preferred, or five years of experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities and their families preferred.
  • Supervisory, teaching, and training experience required.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation and maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Must pass a Level 2 background screening.

  • Experience working with individuals with barriers to employment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and guidance to students assigned to a Goodwill store for work experience.
  • Conduct vocational assessments to identify work-related strengths and barriers.
  • Provide vocational counseling to assist students in developing occupational choices.
  • Develop and implement individual service strategies for participants based on their needs and interests.
  • Submit billing for contractor services with supporting documentation.
  • Provide job search and employment preparation services to customers.
  • Conduct job retention services including job coaching for those needing extra support.
  • Conduct participant orientation and assist with accessing services.
  • Provide job readiness, life skills, or basic skills instruction in individual or group settings.
  • Maintain accurate consumer files and conduct follow-up activities with participants and employers.
  • Provide world-class customer service and effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Accurately complete data entry for demographic and service information.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and community partners to ensure program compliance.
  • Assist visitors with needs related to medical equipment loans and job search activities.
  • Ensure confidentiality of participant records and compliance with regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for service expansion through grants or collaborations.
  • Maintain accountability of inventory and follow procedures for acquisitions.
  • Stay current on employment issues and best practices through ongoing training and development.
  • Collaborate with local service providers to build partnerships and networks.
