About The Position

The Heavy Assembler will fabricate parts to relatively large or heavy subassemblies or complete units. May set up jigs and fixtures, lay out reference points, position, align, and fit together fabricated parts of metal or fiberglass mold according to blueprint and layout specifications fabrication. May fabricate parts as required. Will use hand tools, portable power tools, hoists and cranes to move materials, parts and assemblies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience
• Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment is beneficial
• Previous experience in rail or steel manufacturing industry is a plus

Responsibilities

• Utilize mechanical fastening (bolts, nuts, hucks)
• Apply appropriate torque sequence and values (certified)
• Utilize hand tools to bend or form parts
• Read blueprints
• Operate overhead cranes (certified)
• Must tack weld
• Perform error testing
• Follow all safety rules and practices
• Be involved in safety committees or initiatives, as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
