About The Position

Working closely with the Director of Career Engagement and Corporate Relations, the successful candidate will assist in the delivery and oversight of a comprehensive career exploration and coaching program that builds collaborative efforts across campus and that provides high-quality career education to the Texas A&M University-Kingsville community. Advises prospective and current students during all stages of career engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Understanding of career development models and job search best practices.
  • Knowledge of online career management platforms like Handshake, LinkedIn, and Indeed.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines while also working effectively as a member of a team and engaging with campus partners.
  • Ability to recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student employees.
  • A strong orientation toward supporting student development, career readiness, and successful workforce integration.

Responsibilities

  • Advises and coaches students on career exploration, resume review, interview preparation, and other job search strategies.
  • Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate, updated records following office procedures.
  • Refers students to the Counseling Center when appropriate.
  • Assists with oversight of departmental processes and customer service delivery of the department.
  • Remains abreast and has the ability to discuss current events taking place in the field of higher education and career development.
  • Prepares monthly and annual reports on student career development data.
  • Develops and coordinates career related educational programs for classes, student organizations, groups of prospective students, and others as appropriate.
  • Provides career support, workshops and presentations.
  • Maintains current knowledge base of labor market trends, occupational information, and the local, State, and National employer base.
  • Supervises, mentors, and evaluates student employees.
