About The Position

Reporting to the Career Commons Coordinator, the Career Discovery Camp Coordinator is responsible for leading a classroom of elementary-aged campers (6-12 years-old) in a summer enrichment setting. Coordinators facilitate engaging morning and afternoon learning blocks connected to weekly themes, support campers, and help create a safe, structured, and enriching camp experience. The camp training week is May 26-29. The Coordinator will participate in 24 hours of paid training during training week. The camp sessions are June 1-5, 8-12, 15-19, 22-26, July 6-10, 13-17. The Coordinator position is up to 30 hours per week during the camp sessions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school or camp setting
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential
  • Flexible, energetic, and enthusiastic about summer enrichment programming
  • Must be available for the following dates – May 26-29 (Training); June 8-12, 15-19, 22-26, July 6-10, 13-17
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to listen carefully and interpret what is being said
  • Experience handling multiple assignments at the same time
  • Enjoy working independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and under tight schedules

Responsibilities

  • Create, facilitate, and/or support morning and afternoon academic and creative learning with activities that align with each week’s theme
  • Create a positive, inclusive camp environment with clear expectations and routines based upon core values of EO
  • Supervise students throughout the day, including transitions, lunch, and scheduled activities
  • Collaborate with other camp staff to support daily programming
  • Communicate student needs and concerns with camp leadership
  • Follow all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with EO and camp staff to create and sustain a cheerful, respectful and supportive environment
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect according to policy
