About The Position

The Career Development Specialist plays a vital role in advancing the mission and strategic priorities of Regis University by empowering students and alumni to discern purpose, pursue meaningful work, and navigate career pathways aligned with their values. This role provides inclusive, student-centered career counseling and comprehensive career development services to students and alumni across all academic colleges, while also supporting faculty and staff as partners in student success. The Career Development Specialist designs and delivers engaging workshops, classroom presentations, and programs focused on career exploration, vocational discernment, job and internship searches, and lifelong career readiness. Serving as a dedicated liaison to an assigned academic college, the Career Development Specialist builds strong relationships with faculty, employers, and campus partners to connect students with experiential learning opportunities and career outcomes—particularly in support of Regis’s Jesuit values, commitment to community building and belonging, as well as service to its diverse student populations. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator with strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive, professional relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. They collaborate well with both internal and external teams and demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic environment. A thoughtful and analytical problem-solver, the successful candidate applies critical thinking skills to assess situations, identify solutions, and support sound decision-making

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling or related field or Master’s degree in another field with a certificate in career counseling
  • One or more years of professional or graduate-level experience in career counseling within higher education.
  • One or more years of professional or graduate-level experience in employer outreach and organizing career-related events
  • Experience in administering and facilitating tools such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory and StrengthsFinder.
  • One or more years of professional or graduate-level experience in conducting workshops, class presentations, or other group training sessions, preferably in a career development context.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC)
  • Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written proficiency)

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and group career counseling to support students in career exploration, decision-making, job search strategies, graduate school preparation, networking, interviewing, offer negotiation, and long-term career development.
  • Administer and interpret career assessments; analyze and communicate labor market information to guide informed career planning.
  • Design, implement, and deliver workshops, presentations, and targeted programming that support diverse student populations and advance Regis’s mission.
  • Serve as liaison to an assigned academic college to build strong partnerships with faculty, administrators, and staff; promote career services and integrate career development into the curriculum.
  • Conduct employer outreach to establish, grow, and sustain recruiting partnerships; organize and execute career fairs and other employer engagement events.
  • Plan and manage on-campus employer visits and career-related events, including panels, information sessions, classroom presentations, and networking programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Develop and implement marketing and outreach strategies to increase student, alumni, and employer engagement in career programs and services.
  • Utilize Handshake and related platforms to track appointments, maintain detailed counseling notes, analyze student and employer data, and strengthen recruiting connections.
  • Supervise and train student employees; contribute to campus initiatives by serving on committees, collaborating with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, liaising with the Community for Belonging office, and managing the Success Lab career development program.
