About The Position

The Career Development Coordinator is a new position that plays a central role in launching and operating the new Baumann Family SuccessWorks Gateway space in soon-to-be opened Levy Hall - a high traffic, high energy space - and will serve as a welcoming first point of contact for students and a key partner to academic departments housed in the building. This position blends student staff supervision, quick‑question career advising, collaborative programming, and site and space coordination to support the career development needs of L&S students. The core function of this role is helping direct questions to the right place: the coordinator will field student and departmental inquiries and offer warm referrals to SuccessWorks colleagues or campus services. Working closely with colleagues across SuccessWorks, the Coordinator helps maintain an engaging, well‑run student space; contributes to the creation of career content and events; and strengthens relationships with departmental advisors and campus partners to ensure students receive timely, high‑quality support.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience (may include equivalent undergraduate or graduate level internship/practicum experience) in career services, academic advising, student services, alumni relations, human resources, recruitment, teaching, or other related field
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, including the ability to coordinate daily operations in a high‑traffic environment
  • Experience providing student support, customer service, or advising in a higher‑education or comparable setting
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with students, staff, and campus partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to evolving processes and priorities
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for students and colleagues
  • Bachelor's Degree Required

  • Experience managing or coordinating a student‑facing space, service desk, or similar operational environment
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operational issues and propose practical solutions
  • Experience working in environments with evolving structures, new initiatives, or ambiguous expectations

Responsibilities

  • Student Staff Coordination: In partnership with Associate Director of Career Advising & Communities, hire and train peer advisor staff, coordinate schedules, provide day-to-day supervision, and evaluate performance.
  • Career & Internship Advising: Advise undergraduate, graduate students, and recent alumni with quick questions on career topics related to L&S students looking to break into fields in any field of interest, and seek growth in learning about students’ varied identities and backgrounds, learning, and communication styles
  • Site & Space Coordination: Oversees daily operations of the SuccessWorks Gateway space in Levy Hall, ensuring it remains a welcoming, functional, and well‑maintained hub for student engagement. This includes serving as the primary liaison with the building manager and campus partners; monitoring and maintaining space readiness; tracking inventory and ordering supplies; and addressing facility needs as they arise. The coordinator ensures appropriate staffing coverage during business hours, supports student staff working in the space, and helps shape processes and protocols for a high‑traffic, front‑facing environment where students and guests may seek both career-related and general campus assistance
  • Partnership Development: In partnership with the Associate Director of College Partnerships, serve as a point of contact between SuccessWorks and the academic departments in Levy Hall by building relationships with departmental advisors and frontline staff. Stay informed about each department’s student needs, career questions, and existing career related programs. Represent SuccessWorks’ services and resources, share relevant insights with the Associate Director of College Partnerships, and help shape appropriate offers of support based on departmental priorities and past engagement.
  • Oversees daily operations of the SuccessWorks Gateway space in Levy Hall, ensuring it remains a welcoming, functional, and well-maintained hub for student engagement
  • Educates or advises students and recent alumni individually or in groups through various mediums about career exploration, self-assessment, skills, materials development, and career decisions
  • May identify and maintain a professional network of employers or other stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and employment opportunities for students
  • Develops and delivers career development programming and resource materials across various mediums to provide education to students
  • Responds to questions and provides information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation
  • Participates in the campus-wide career services community, providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college/unit
