The Career Developer provides customized employment services and establishes and maintains partnerships with local businesses. This position facilitates job search and career advancement workshops and coordinates full cycle recruitment process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • With a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role is required.
  • If associate degree in human services or related field, a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role is required.
  • If bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, no additional experience is required.
  • Partial credit will be given for an internship with an applicable BA completed.
  • Experience and desire to work with persons of diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
  • Experience in vocational/employment counseling, case management, vocational rehabilitation, supported work settings, community mental health, or chemical dependency services.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate placement opportunities by sourcing, pre-screening and screening, interviewing.
  • Coach, guide and counsel job seekers on interviewing and jobs search best practices. This may include participating in informational and mock interviews, job fairs and employer networking opportunities; instruct individuals or groups on job market and labor market information.
  • Review and update participant’s resume for appropriate skill sets.
  • Evaluate candidates for employer referrals ensuring that participant skills match with employer requirements.
  • Provide transition and retention services when program participants find employment, which includes, but are not limited to, mentoring by continuing to support improvement and acquisition of new skills through training and education, and referrals to community sources for additional support.
  • Establish effective relationships with area employers to promote hiring, on the job training and internship opportunities.
  • Identify possible areas for Program improvement based on the need of participants.
  • Monitor and track program results.
  • Maintain participant files; submit reporting forms, and other data as required.
