About The Position

Open Sky Career Services is a wrap-around service model which provides active participation in high level collaboration, coordination and communication with all partners that serve individuals receiving supports through Competitive Integrated Employment Services (CIES). Our goal is to ensure that all resources are leveraged so that all adults with disabilities can maximize their economic self-sufficiency through creating and reaching their employment objectives. Career Counselors follow the guidelines and components of the Competitive Integrated Employment Services model to support individuals in stabilizing their employment and reach successful employment outcomes. They also assist individuals with integrated employment opportunities specific to individuals in their Career Plan based on their interests, skills, abilities, and needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
  • Valid Driver’s License, acceptable driving record and reliable transpiration, required.
  • Minimum of two years experience working with individuals with disabilities (including behavioral health challenges).
  • Must be willing to become a Certified Employment Specialist upon hire. Open Sky provides and pays for this certification!

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with MassAbility and Department of Transitional Assistance to determine individuals employment and/or educational goals.
  • Determine individuals’ vocational readiness through the development of relevant skills including completion of job applications, resume writing and interview preparation.
  • Operate as a representative of Open Sky in meetings with funders related to work responsibilities and support for individuals served.
  • Assist individuals in accessing and obtaining information about their benefits such as SSI, SSDI and others. Help individuals understand how benefits may affect their employment.
