About the position

The Veteran Career & Transition Counselor role at Still Serving Veterans (SSV) is designed for Honorably Discharged Veterans who are passionate about assisting fellow Veterans in their transition to civilian careers. This full-time position involves providing personalized career counseling, including job search strategies, resume development, and interview preparation, to help Veterans achieve meaningful employment. The counselor will also engage in community outreach and support recruitment efforts for new clients, all while traveling to job fairs and events as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized career counseling through one-on-one coaching and virtual support.
• Focus on resume development, job search strategies, mock interviews, and networking for clients.
• Build a reputation as a trusted expert in Veteran employment.
• Track client progress and report on their success using a client management system.
• Maintain case files and execute quality control checks for service consistency.
• Support recruitment efforts for new Veteran clients through social media and events.
• Identify, schedule, and manage job fairs and hiring events to increase community presence.

Requirements

• Honorably Discharged Veteran (Guard or Reserve welcome to apply)
• Bachelor's Degree or higher
• Post-military civilian work experience (in Veteran advocacy preferred)
• Satisfactory background check
• Reliable transportation to/from events within a reasonable distance
• Strong work ethic and dedication to helping Veterans succeed.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Veteran advocacy
• Familiarity with SalesForce or similar client management systems
